Welcome to a brand new semester here at Fourteen Hills!

Our graduate student editors and staff are already tirelessly reading hundreds of submissions and eagerly planning for our December issue, Fourteen Hills 20.0. It’s a big year for us here at Fourteen Hills, as we look back over twenty years of publishing some of the country’s best innovative and thought-provoking fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and art. George Saunders loves us, as do more than one hundred independent and mainstream bookstores across the country that carry us, plus a growing readership that turns to Fourteen Hills for its stimulating art, slick design, interviews with both well-known and up-and-coming authors, and always electrifying fiction, non-fiction, and poetry.

Fourteen Hills has a few events up its sleeve to celebrate its twenty year birthday. To kick-start the party, Fourteen Hills is excited to present its Time Capsule Tour at this years LitCrawl, Saturday, October 19. Join us at 6 PM at the Mission Police Station, 630 Valencia, where our featured readers include Jon Boilard, Daniel Coshnear, Lucille Long Day, Sarah Heady (winner of this year’s Michael Rubin Book Award), Jill Tidman, and Barbara Tomas.

November 6, Fourteen Hills is throwing a release party for this year’s Michael Rubin Book Award winner, San Francisco State University MFA poetry candidate, Sarah Heady. These parties are always joyful celebrations of outstanding and local new authors. Please stay tuned for details to come.

Also in the works this year is Fourteen Hills’ inaugural poetry award contest. Details to follow.

And finally, Fourteen Hills 20.0, our twentieth issue, will be released at one of our characteristically fantastic release parties in mid-December. This is one you won’t want to miss.

Follow us on Facebook and Twitter to stay up-to-date. Bookmark our website. Hey, even drop us a line. It’s going to be another incredible year. Come celebrate with us!
