It is the opinion of this writer that the impulse to create comes out of the desire to connect with likeminded individuals. To that effect, each issue of Fourteen Hills represents a new group of writers coming together in the effort of contributing to an evolving literary community. With the passing of each academic semester, staff members reap the rewards of hard work firsthand, not the least of which are the accolades given to our contributors.
This year we are proud of past contributor (issue 18.2) Siamak Vossoughi’s achievement in winning the Flannery O’Connor Award for Short Fiction. His story collection, Better Than War, will be available in Fall of 2015 by the University of Georgia Press.
See Vossoughi’s interview in Evan Karp’s series’ The Write Stuff for what a night on the town means to him, and other random intimacies.
This is why we write.
Be on the lookout for a Fourteen Hills interview with Vossoughi, coming shortly.
